REAZON CAPITAL will be operated using Reazon's own funds.
1. Background of REAZON CAPITAL's Launch
Since 2021, Reazon has been engaging in minority investment activities with its own funds for startup companies. Starting from 2022, we have accelerated our investment activities and have executed over 10 investments in Japan and Southeast Asia. Fortunately, the performance of our portfolio companies has been progressing well, and we have already achieved an exit through M&A with one of our investee companies.
The area of minority investment in startups in Japan and Southeast Asia is promising and is expected to contribute to Reazon's long-term growth. Additionally, we believe that by sharing our expertise and knowledge with startup companies, we can provide unique value to them. Therefore, we have decided to further formalize and accelerate our investment activities by establishing REAZON CAPITAL.
In the future, as REAZON CAPITAL, we will promote various activities related to Reazon's minority investments. Furthermore, Reazon actively engages in M&A, and both Reazon and REAZON CAPITAL will seamlessly collaborate on M&A activities.
2. Overview of REAZON CAPITAL
Features
i. Self-funded investments: REAZON CAPITAL executes investments using its own funds, which distinguishes it from traditional funds and offers the following characteristics:
- No investment period constraints
- Ability to invest in different asset classes
- Less susceptible to the impact of financial markets
ii. Synergy and collaboration with Reazon: Reazon and REAZON CAPITAL possess various in-house businesses, personnel, and technologies, enabling us to provide diverse business collaboration and support tailored to the needs of investee companies (however, business collaboration is a means to contribute to the growth of startup companies and not an end in itself).
Investment Strategy: REAZON CAPITAL focuses on investments that can generate significant returns and has set the following principles for investment selection:
i. Investment stage: "Pre-Series A startup companies" as a general rule
ii. Investment market: "(potentially) Large-scale markets" and "markets where target companies can establish a competitive advantage"
iii. Current investment focus areas: Based on the above principles, REAZON CAPITAL's current investment focus areas are as follows:
- Entertainment / IP domain
- Growth markets with a focus on Vietnam
- Deep tech domain
Locations: In order to promote investments overseas, REAZON CAPITAL has established bases in Singapore and Vietnam, in addition to Japan. We will consider further expansion of our network of locations based on investment opportunities.
